Principal’s Message

Dear Eagles,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year. I am honored to be serving as your principal this year. I graduated from Mills E. Godwin High School and then went on to James Madison University where I studied English and education. I then earned my master’s degree in educational leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have spent over 25 years in education as a middle school teacher, testing coordinator, and an administrator. In 2010, I began serving on the administrative team at Godwin as assistant and associate, and this is my eleventh year as principal here. Godwin is a second home to me, and I am so excited to be able to serve this community that is so dear to me.

Godwin pride runs deep among our students, parents, and staff. Our teachers provide a means for a powerful educational experience for all our students, our students have so many unique talents and gifts, and we have the supportive parents and families.

Best wishes for a wonderful school year!

Mrs. Leigh Dunavant
